The 55-year-old disgraced hip-hop mogul is currently behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.
On October 3, Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced Combs to just over four years in prison and a $500,000 fine (the maximum possible) for his conviction of federal prostitution-related crimes. After serving his prison term, he will also be subject to supervised release for up to five years.
In his ruling, Subramanian said “a history of good deeds cannot wash away all the information in this case that shows you abused power and control over the lives of the women you professed to love.”
“You were not John,” he added. “You were something more, even if your currency was to satisfy your sexual desires rather than money.”

Subramanian said a harsh sentence was needed “to send a message to both rapists and victims that there is real accountability for exploitation and violence against women.”
Federal prosecutors had asked for Combs, 55, to be sentenced to a minimum of 11 years and three months in prison. Combs' lawyers urged the judge to sentence him to no more than 14 monthswhich would lead to his almost immediate release since he had already served nearly 13 months in a Brooklyn prison.
Addressing the judge, Combs thanked Subramanian for “giving me a chance to finally speak for myself” since the former rapper did not testify during the trial.
“One of the most difficult things I have had to deal with is being forced to remain silent. Not being able to express how sorry I am for my actions,” Combs said in a statement to the court.
“I want to once again personally apologize to Cassie Ventura for any harm or pain I caused her, either emotionally or physically.”
Combs called his behavior “disgusting, disgraceful and disgusting.”
“Because of my decisions, I lost my freedom, I lost the ability to effectively raise my children and be there for my mother,” Combs said. “I lost my entire business, I lost my career, I completely destroyed my reputation.”
Combs said he “lost his self-respect” and was “humiliated and broken to the core.”
“I hate myself right now. I've been reduced to nothing,” Combs said. “I want to apologize to my seven children. You deserve better.”
The sentencing marked the end of Combs' New York trial, which began May 5.
Combs' legal team filed suit notice of appeal Oct. 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York based on an Oct. 3 decision. Details of the appeal have not been made public beyond the legal filing.
