New York Jets quarterback for the first time this season Justin Fields stood at the podium to talk to reporters after Sunday's victory.
Jets made a miraculous fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 39–38 and finally secure its first win of the 2025 campaign. They were the only remaining NFL without a win this year.
Although Breece Hall's two touchdown passes played a vital role in the victory, Fields' efforts to keep the Jets in the game were paramount to achieving the victory.

Jets fans and even the team owner have criticized Fields all season. In fact, there was no certainty that Fields would even start at Pacore Stadium on Sunday, as head coach Aaron Glenn kept his decision a secret until Saturday arrived.
After his comeback game, Fields said he really felt the criticism and pressure to perform this week.
“I’m going to get very vulnerable right here,” Fields told reporters, via Yahoo Sports. “This week I found myself in my closet crying on the ground, lying down. Not because of difficulties, not because of problems. I felt like I was built to handle this… Yesterday I just prayed over and over and over, just one win.”
Jets owner Woody Johnson publicly criticized his quarterback's performance during the NFL's annual fall combine.
“It's tough when you have a quarterback as rated as we have,” Johnson told a crowd of reporters. “He has the ability, but something is wrong. If you look at any head coach with a quarterback like that, you'll see similar results across the league.”

Fields apparently heard what his employer had to say, although he called it “extraneous noise at the end of the day.”
“I understand that he is the owner of the team, but this is outside noise,” he continued. “The most important thing was that my teammates believed in me and my coaches still believed in me.”
While Fields got his first win with the Jets, Glenn waited seven weeks for that feeling. The coach also made no bones about it, admitting that the Jets Bengalsthe defense was hot on its heels and continued to convert back-to-back two-point attempts in the fourth quarter.
Even though both games fell flat, we may still be talking about a losing Jets team on Monday.
But that's not true. Instead, the Jets have Victory Monday as they look to build on their win heading into the bye week. They'll be back on the field Nov. 9 at home against the Cleveland Browns, another struggling team.

“It took a lot for me emotionally and spiritually,” Fields said. “When I was on the field, I was damn close to crying, not because we won, but because of the goodness of God. Everything I've been through in the last week, everything we've been through as a team in the last seven weeks, there's been a lot of ups and downs and I've gotten a lot of support from my teammates, from my brothers, from my family, from my friends, and most of all I'm just grateful. Yesterday I started praying, praying like crazy, just for victory.”
Fields went 21-of-32 for 244 yards, throwing one pass to receiver Tyler Johnson before the end of the first half. Hall added 133 yards on 18 carries to go with his two scores and also threw a touchdown to rookie tight end Mason Taylor.
