Like every year, Halloween opens the door to screen-scaring. Many people love these stories that send shivers down our spines and fuel our nightmares. We rediscover classics, including American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, The Last of Us, From, The Haunting of Hill House, Hannibal or even X-Files. We enjoy flirting with these areas of the imagination, albeit painful ones, sources of strong emotions and discomfort. And every year new series come out on platforms, which always terrorize us a little.

Bill Skarsgård once again dons the costume of Stephen King's most terrifying clown, Pennywise. This series takes us back to the 1960s, to the small town of Derry, Maine. A group of children live near a military base where special projects are being planned. When one of them disappears, they decide to go there. At this point, the situation gets out of control and they are chased by a terrible clown. Note that the series takes place before the events of the film, released in 2017.

Alien: Earth
FranchiseStranger was a huge success at the box office. Here's the first small screen adaptation. We're two years away from the events of Ridley Scott's first film that scared us. In 2120, five companies will compete for the territory and its riches. Humans have cybernetic implants, automata are programmed as humans, and hybrid species coexist with consciousnesses formed from the children of guinea pigs. One day, a space mission with aliens on board crashes onto Earth. One of them turns out to be especially aggressive.

Stranger Things
You will have to be patient to follow this series, which has revolutionized the platform in a certain way. The fifth and final season will be released soon. Perhaps this is an opportunity to take another look at the previous chapters. The new episodes will be practically films, almost an hour and a half long each. He kills and dismembers women or digs up corpses, from which he then makes his furniture. His farm is a real museum of horrors. He inspired Hitchcock as much as the creators Texas Chainsaw Massacre. What's likely to happen when a dozen fans true crime invited to a motel known as the site where satanic events took place 30 years ago? Despite the renovation, horrifying rituals are carried out here in which every guest disappears. If they need to unite and unite, the guests are also overcome by paranoia. Not everyone will likely make it out alive.

Renaissance
It is clear that Wisconsin does not offer anything encouraging. Adapted from the comic book of the same name, this supernatural-tinged series follows the investigation into the murder of police officer Dana Cypress. The problem is that in this city the dead are resurrected and behave normally. They are as suspicious as the living ones. The village is filled with fear and the strangeness of the situation.

Haunted Hotel (IN. Haunted Hotel)
Animated series are gaining popularity among both young people and older people. This new adult release takes a humorous approach to suspense and horror clichés. Katherine and her children move into a hotel that once belonged to her brother, and he lives there as a ghost. She quickly realizes that there are other ghosts here who have no intention of leaving the establishment. But they should not harm business. Season 2 confirmed.

Horror is very expensive to make. In Quebec, unfortunately, there are no funds for the development of this genre, but some series are an exception. Although recent, they prove local artists' talent for tense situations.
Terror 404
Once again available to stream, this series from director Sebastian Diaz offers short situations that capture the strangeness and tension. Each character is literally plunged into a nightmare. Accompanying the beneficiary, business woman, weekend lover, runner or youth traveling by car, no one will escape it, and the ending will not spare us either. This psychological horror series by Yannick Savart, written by François Paget, takes us hostage just like its characters. Five people who don't know each other find themselves captives of a sadistic creature that plays with their worst phobias. They are spied on, manipulated, subjected to psychological and physical torture, without understanding why. Admitting the truth to each other could allow them to regain their freedom. Filmed during a pandemic, this series has an effective, unsettling side.
