“Chainsaw Man Movie: Reze's Arcremained No. 1 at the Korean box office with $1.6 million from 219,686 admissions for October 24–26, capturing 30.1% of the market on 932 screens.
The film has grossed $18.9 million since its Sept. 24 premiere, according to KOBIS, a tracking service run by the Korean Film Council. The film adapts the plot of “Reze” from Tatsuki Fujimoto's popular manga. Directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara from a script by Hiroshi Seko. The film follows Denji's encounter with cafe worker Reze, which leads to a clash between intimacy and bloody chaos. The voice cast includes Reina Ueda, Fairuz Ai, Tomori Kusunoki and Maaya Uchida. Market distribution is handled by Sony/Crunchyroll.
Japanese psychological horror Exit 8 took second place with $977,292 from 137,173 admissions (17.8% of the market). Directed by Kawamura Genki, the film stars Ninomiya Kazunari as a man trapped in a seemingly endless subway corridor where he must detect minute anomalies in order to escape.
Korean film “Boss” came in third with $398,660 (58,838 admissions), raising its total to $15.97 million. The action comedy film, directed by Ra Hee-chan, stars Cho Woo-jin as Soon Tae, Jung Kyung Ho as Kang Pyo, Park Ji Hwan as Pan Ho, and Lee Kyu Hyun as Tae Gyu. The film debuted on Busan International Film Festivalfocuses on the underlings of a gang who, oddly enough, compete to avoid becoming the boss while pursuing personal ambitions.
It was followed by the stop-motion classic Coraline, which earned $412,856 (58,134 admissions), bringing the re-release's cost to $1.5 million. Park Chan Wook”There's no other choice” finished fifth with $327,571 (47,604 entries) for a total of $19.6 million. Lee Byung-hun plays Man-soo, a laid-off paper manufacturing specialist who resorts to serial killing to eliminate his competitors for one job opening, only to discover that a position exists to oversee AI testing.
In sixth place is the Japanese hit “Demon Slayer“Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle” added $316,549 (41,857 admissions) to reach $41.7 million.
“Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory/Premature Death – The Movie” came in seventh place with $235,455 ($33,813 admissions; $1.3 million cumulative). “One Battle After Another” finished eighth with $191,265 (24,938 admissions; $3.68 million cumulative).
The acclaimed Korean drama “World of Love” debuted ninth with $148,882 (21,876 admissions). Directed by Yoon Ga-eun, known for The World of Us (Berlinale 2016) and The House of Us (BFI London 2019), the drama centers on 17-year-old Lee Juin (Seo Soo Bin), an unpredictable high school student whose angry outburst causes ripple effects throughout her world. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and won the Roberto Rossellini Award Jury Prize and the Audience Award. Pingyao International Film FestivalSection “Crouching Tigers”.
“Guns” rounded out the top ten with $69,110 (9,428 entries; $532,008 total).
Continuing their upward trajectory, the top 10 titles combined earned $4.7 million during the Oct. 24-26 period, up from $5.06 million the previous week.
