David Beckham: United legend approached by UAE group in bid to buy club – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are again subject to takeover rumors.

Ineos

The chemical company, owned by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, finally beat Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani for partial control of the club in December 2023.

However, although Ratcliffe manages the football operations, he only owns 28.94% club.

Thus, the Glazer family still owns the majority of the club, even if they have taken a backseat in football activities.

This means they could technically still sell United to someone other than Ineos if they wanted, and there is a flurry of rumors swirling around potential buyers.

United Arab Emirates application

Last week it became known that a group from the UAE was addicted purchase of a football club.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported: “An international holding company, or IHC, which has been in existence for about three decades, was involved in negotiations to develop the UAE consortium concept.”

It has also been suggested that legend Eric Cantona has been proposed as the bid's ambassador.

David Beckham got closer

Sun report that “David Beckham was approached by a group of UAE billionaires as they prepared a bid to buy Manchester United, according to sensational reports.”

It is reported that “an unknown consortium of UAE investors is said to be planning to make an offer for shares controlled by United's majority owners, the Glazers.”

Moreover, “they approached the six-time Premier League champion and triple title winner to see if he would be willing to be an ambassador for the bid.”

Wayne Rooney and Eric Cantona are also said to be of interest, but Beckham's worldwide fame reportedly makes him the favourite.

The former England international is worth an estimated £300 million and is already the owner of Salford City and Inter Miami.
