Unknown and OneRep are the two most famous data deletion services that will help you stay private online. They crawl data broker sites for your personal information and send automated or manual requests to remove that information.
Incogni was launched in 2022 by SurfsharkThe leading application for virtual private networks (VPN). It is still owned by Surfshark, which has merged with another VPN Nord Security company in 2022. Although Incogni is under the Nord Security umbrella, Incogni maintains a separate brand and operates separately.
Brokerage coverage
Incogni provides automated takedown requests for over 420 data broker sites, including some of the largest. It can send automated requests to these sites seamlessly, and such requests are processed quickly. Incogni can also send manual data removal requests to more than 1,000 sites, although these requests take longer to process than automatic ones.
However, there is a caveat when sending requests using Incogni. Users subscribed to the Standard plan can only submit automatic data deletion requests. Custom queries are available to users of the more expensive unlimited plan.
OneRep processes data deletion requests for over 230 data brokers and people search sites. After entering your name and other personal information, it will perform a deep scan of these brokers' websites to determine where your information is listed. OneRep uses its own Real scan a technology that allows you to find information much faster than many other data removal services. After the initial scan, you can also set up scheduled scans for OneRep to keep searching the web for your data and sending deletion requests (Incogni offers a similar feature).
Notably, OneRep offers manual deletion requests for users subscribed to the Pro plan. It does not have a specific number of sites that support manual queries. Rather, it could be any site, and the OneRep team will prepare a formal request to try to remove the data.
Incogni has a wider broker coverage than OneRep, especially in the case of manual removal. However, OneRep features a faster scan that typically completes within a few hours, whereas a full Incogni scan can take up to 48 hours.
Data Analysis
With Incogni, users have access to a detailed dashboard to track their queries. From this dashboard, I could track every request Incogni initiated on my behalf, including those that were pending or successful. The process began with submitting my personal information to be scanned by Incogni, and the scan took approximately 48 hours. After the initial scan, I allowed Incogni to submit removal requests on my behalf, and then I could track the status of each request from my control panel.
Incogni sent email alerts after the initial scan was completed, whenever a request was submitted, and whenever a request was successfully processed. Although the dashboard showed the same information, these email alerts meant I didn't have to visit the dashboard every time to keep track of my deletion requests.
OneRep stood out to me with its data analytics. It provided a detailed dashboard where I could easily track each request and also received email alerts whenever requests were submitted and finalized.
Regarding Incogni, I have seen several cases where data was marked as “deleted” but was still present on the data broker's site – this happened because the data broker told Incogni staff that the request had been processed, but in fact it was not completed (the data was permanently deleted later). In contrast, OneRep's reports seemed more reliable, with data only showing as “deleted” on the dashboard when it was actually deleted from the data broker's database.
Additional features
Incogni and OneRep don't offer many additional features other than scanning and deleting personal data. They are not like some data removal sites that also offer VPN service, dark web scanning, and other additional features.
However, I can point out that Incogni and OneRep do not offer a simple one-time scan and deletion of data. You can enable recurring scans to automatically scan your data and submit deletion requests on your behalf. Through repeated scans, Incogni or OneRep becomes a digital companion that helps keep you safe online.
Ease of use
Incogni and OneRep are both user-friendly tools in their own right. With Incogni, you get a dashboard with minimal clutter and simple visuals that make it easy to navigate. The main dashboard displays an interactive timeline of requests submitted by Incogni on your behalf, including the status of each request (Submitted, In Progress, or Completed). Incogni also displays a “time saved” metric that shows how much time you would have lost by running these queries yourself.
With OneRep, you have an intuitive dashboard that displays the status of your requests on the main page. This main page makes it easy for you to know when a request has been submitted, processed, or is pending.
In my opinion, OneRep's dashboard seems more detailed than Incogni's, although they offer similar statistics. The key difference is that Incogni offers a more automated and automated user interface, while OneRep offers a hands-on experience that requires more manual input to manage your requests.
Customer support
Incogni provides generous support resources, both internal and external. Its official support page contains detailed user guides and tutorials that I found useful for solving everyday problems. When I needed outside help, Incogni support was always available via email, live chat, or phone. However, please note that phone support is only available to users subscribed to the Unlimited plan.
OneRep also provides plenty of self-help resources, and its official support center offers detailed user guides that will come in handy for troubleshooting. When self-help resources weren't enough, I quickly contacted OneRep support via email or phone. Notably, OneRep's telephone support is open to all paid subscribers.
Plans and prices
Incogni users can choose from four pricing plans: Standard, Unlimited, FamilyAnd Family unlimited. Each plan has a monthly or annual subscription, with paying annually providing a 50% discount compared to paying monthly.
The standard plan costs $16 per month, and the annual option costs $96 (50% discount from paying $16 for 12 months or $192). The unlimited plan costs $30 per month, but an annual subscription reduces the price to $180. The Unlimited plan allows both automatic and manual deletion requests, unlike the Standard plan, which only supports automatic requests.
The Family Plan offers the same features as the Standard Plan, but allows up to 5 users per subscription. It costs $32 per month or $192 for an annual subscription. The Family Unlimited plan offers the same features as the Incogni Unlimited plan, but is limited to up to 5 members; it will cost you $46 per month or $276 if you pay annually. Incogni does not offer a free trial, but does offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
OneRep has a similar pricing system to Incogni. Offers four tariff plans: Individual, Family, Individual professionalAnd Family Pro. The key difference is that the Pro options allow manual deletion requests, while the Individual and Family plans only support automatic requests.
The individual plan costs $15 per month, but annual subscriptions offer a discount of up to $100. The family plan, covering up to 6 users, costs $28 per month, but is discounted to $180 per year. The Individual Pro subscription costs $30 per month or $192 per year, and the Family Pro plan costs $56 per month or $360 discounted per year.
Considering their respective features, Incogni and OneRep offer good bang for your buck. In terms of pricing, there is not much difference between the two platforms.
Which is better?
I wouldn't say Incogni or OneRep is absolutely better than the other, although I do prefer Incogni. Incogni brokers' wider reach and user-friendly experience are major factors contributing to this preference. After providing my personal data, Incogni took over, constantly checking data broker sites for it and sending automatic deletion requests to any site where it was found.
OneRep is user-friendly, but I find it better suited for requests to remove specific sites manually rather than automatically. Its brokerage reach is also not as broad as Incogni's, focusing more on US data brokerage platforms than foreign ones. Overall, I recommend Incogni to anyone looking for a reliable data removal platform, but OneRep works too.
