The team acquired forward Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks with the 17th overall pick.e place in the 2020 auction, one place behind Canadian Cayden Goulet.

In exchange, the Blackhawks will receive a fourth-round pick in the 2027 draft. This is their own pick that they sent to the Canucks as part of the Ilya Mikheyev trade.

According to The Athletic's Pierre Lebrun, Reichel asked for a trade. Agent Allen Roy worked smoothly with general manager Kyle Davidson, with whom the young player's clan had been negotiating for some time.

In five games this season, the 23-year-old German has hit the target twice and provided two assists. In his last campaign, he scored 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 70 games.

Reichel is one of seven German players who will play in the National Hockey League (NHL) in 2025-26.

He could play his first game for the Canucks on Saturday when the Montreal Canadiens visit Vancouver. This match will be shown on TVA Sports.
