The Saskatchewan Roughriders are resting several struggling starters for the regular-season finale while bringing back a handful of those who were sidelined last week, including quarterback Trevor Harris.
The 39-year-old mainstay remained third in the lineup in last week's one-point loss to Winnipeg, while Jake Mayer and Jack Coan shared time under center. He will start and play at least part of this game to prepare for the postseason.
Other returning stars this week include running back AJ Ouellette, right tackle Jermarcus Hardrick and defensive tackle Micah Johnson. However, guard C.J. Reavis, left guard Philippe Gagnon and guard Mike Rose would close the game.
The Riders are also missing four players with injuries, with wide receiver Joe Robustelli (knee), linebacker Nick Wiebe (back), running back Mario Anderson Jr. (knee) and kicker Brett Lauter (back) out.
American Michael Hughes will make his CFL debut at forward Lauter, potentially testing for the playoffs. Darius Washington will move from right tackle to right guard, with Noah Zerr serving as his backup. Canadian linebacker Melik Straker returned from a short illness and Canadian defenseman Nelson Lokombo will play for the first time since injuring his ankle in Week 12.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders (12-5) will host the BC Lions (10-7) on Saturday, October 25, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 pm ET. Lions beat Edmonton Elks and can finish second in the West Division by beating Saskatchewan, while Roughriders lose sloppy game in Winnipeg.
The weather forecast for Regina calls for a high of 19 degrees with sunny skies. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in to 730 CKNW in Vancouver and 620 CKRM in Regina.
