Okay, folks, this is as cheap as I've seen a new OLED monitor in months—even on Prime Day 2 (what I like to call the Amazon Boogaloo), none of them dipped below the $450 mark. Today you can buy a 27-inch Redragon OLED monitor with a resolution of 1440 pixels. for only $409.99 from Amazon sale site Woot.com. That's almost $200 off the retail price.
Redragon is a budget brand, famous things like gaming keyboards and mice, and I don't think I've ever seen a monitor with that branding before. But judging by the OLED panel's specs—27 inches, 2560×1440 resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time, AMD FreeSync support—it uses the same fairly generic part that LG makes by the truckload. This means it will be bright, have fantastic contrast, and have enough speed to make it competitive in fast-paced games.
I'm surprised to see that the monitor has a few extra features, most notably a USB-C port with 65W of power. This makes it a decent laptop companion, although the powerful model may not offer the fastest charging. You also get two USB-A ports and two HDMI and DisplayPort inputs – that's pretty darn good for a budget design! It will be on sale for the next few weeks, unlike some Woot offerings, or until supplies run out.
There's just one thing that makes me think. According to the Woot page, this monitor comes with a 90-day warranty, which is standard for refurbished sales… and yet it is labeled as new and not refurbished. I'm guessing this is a boilerplate situation and someone at Woot didn't check this particular listing. The official Redragon store claims to give two years warranty servicebut only when selling directly from your store.
So yes, it's a bit of a risk if you're worried about longevity. This model is AOCwhich I'm guessing uses a nearly identical OLED panel, might cost an extra $40 for a three-year screen warranty. But it's your money – $40 is enough. for VESA monitor armwhich this thing supports.
