Lorinc pleaded not guilty at trial, calling attention to Florida's controversial “stand your ground” self-defense law, which allows the use of deadly force if a person, according to statute“reasonably believes that the use or threat of use of such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm.”
