Casemiro's time at Manchester United has been a rollercoaster.

Despite a highly successful first season at United under Erik ten Hag in 2022/23, the former Real Madrid man has struggled in a United shirt on numerous occasions.
When Ineos first secured minority control of the club, they actually emphasized Casemiro deal like the type of mistakes the previous regime made at Old Trafford.
Renaissance
However, the Brazilian never gave up on his United career, despite numerous reports that it has been selling at the right price for many years.
Casemiro struggled as a sophomore but played better overall last year.
He was initially left out of the squad by Ruben Amorim when he joined at the end of 2024, but has since fought his way back into the first team and has been first choice alongside Bruno Fernandes for this campaign.
His importance was further underlined by the fact that he started at Anfield despite being capped twice by Brazil in friendlies in Asia during the international break.
Casemiro could stay
The Brazil international was expected to leave the club at the end of his contract this summer, but reports suggest it could be premature.
Athletic reports that “given his return to regular action and happiness in Manchester, Casemiro is not yet looking beyond Old Trafford. He still wants to turn United into a force again.”
It is claimed that United are unlikely to exercise the option in his current deal as it would mean he will be left with the same huge salary he currently has.
However, “negotiations on a new agreement are not ruled out.”
The club were also reportedly impressed by the 33-year-old's response to being dropped from the squad at the start of 2025.
The article states that “Casemiro did not knock on Amorim's door. Talk to people close to his camp and they say he was not depressed, but instead motivated to prove his doubters wrong, that his intention was to show his coach on the training pitch what he had to offer before demonstrating to the rest when he regained his place in the team.”
