Britney Spears says she suffered “brain damage” years ago because “people are incredibly cruel” just as ex-husband Kevin Federline's book detailing her troubling behavior as a new mother hit shelves.

Spears said there were many things in her life that she didn't talk about in her memoir.

“Trust me, there is A LOT that I didn't share in my book, and there are still things that I'm currently hiding because it's incredibly painful and sad,” she added.

She also claimed that the “brain damage” happened to her a long time ago.

“Of course, I have already experienced this troubling time in my life and I am lucky to be alive,” she wrote.

In it, former dancer Spears wrote about her alleged eccentric behavior while they were married and concerns about her health after they became parents to Sean Preston in 2005 and Jayden James in 2006.

Federline wrote in his book that at the time he felt “like watching someone slowly lose control of their life.”

“I've lost faith that things will ever completely change, but I still hope that Britney can find peace,” he added.
