Death lives large in these small-screen parties – Winnipeg Free Press

As the leaves fall and smoke rises from the chimney, there's even more reason to turn to the nearest screen and watch these terminal studies, through fact and fiction, about baseball, therapy, rockets, blackjack and a very grumpy private eye.

WHO Killed the Montreal Exhibitions (documentary premieres Tuesday, October 21st on Netflix)

“The death of The Expos is something of a big game of Hook“, says one of the many talking heads in this re-investigation. “Many motives. Lots of suspects. We have a long list.” Among the people and factors under endless suspicion for the 2004 demise of the disorderly embodiment of Quebec pride that was the Expos are owner Claude Brochu; team president Jeffrey Lauria; the 1994 strike, when the Expos were hailed as the league's best team; and last but not least, good old economics. Will the secret ever be revealed? The hope and passion for exhibitions is eternal.

In “Lazarus,” Sam Claflin (left) is a psychiatrist who sees ghosts, including his father (Bill Nighy).

Harlan Lazar Kobena (The series premieres with all six episodes on Wednesday, October 22nd on Prime Video)

Like father, like son, young Doctor Joel (Laz) Lazarus (Sam Claflin) I'm in front of you) talks to violent criminals as part of his work as a forensic psychiatrist. Unlike his father (Bill Nighy, Life), Laz is still alive. That doesn't mean they don't still confer, since his father is one of the ghosts who tell Laz about their unsolved cases. Even our protagonist in this new thriller begins to question his sanity: “You don’t think I don’t know I might go crazy?” – Laz asks the supportive but rather suspicious Sergeant Seth McGovern (David Finn, Here). It's a tough start. Add in the murder of Laz's sister 25 years ago, and the stage is set for some psychological games, several unsolved cases, and some closure between father and son.
