Protecting the crown jewels in pilates classes | Pilates

Since I'm (often) the only man in a Pilates class, I'm wondering if there's a reason why “Pilates and the male psyche are not connected” (Letters, October 19) is that the language is directed towards women and their anatomy. More than once, when I was clearly confused about which part of myself I should focus on, female instructors would whisper “crown jewels” in my ear.

After my sigh of relief that maybe sanity had finally prevailed (Rachel Reeves says those with the broadest shoulders should pay their fair share of taxes, October 16), normal services have resumed with speculation that the Chancellor has set his sights on a scheme to provide cars for disabled people (Chancellor says she 'cannot leave welfare untouched' in this Parliament as Budget looms, 17 October).

The two-height garden room looks amazing (Spa-like atmosphere with the ability to cook your own dinner: Britain's best new building – refurbished almshouse, 16 October). I really hope external shutters or formwork have been installed given the 2C forecast. global temperature rise. I think modernization is quite a hustle.
