Americans feel the pain of Trump’s economic ‘wrecking ball’

A new poll A report released Monday shows a growing number of Americans are seriously concerned about their ability to find work as President Donald Trump's economy has worsened significantly.

A NORC Center for Public Affairs Affairs poll conducted by The Associated Press found that 47% of Americans said they were “not very” or “not at all confident” they could find a job if they wanted one. That's up 10% from November 2023, when President Joe Biden was in office.

Trump campaigned in 2024 by attacking Biden on the economy, even as data on all fronts showed a strong recovery from the economic mess he inherited in 2021. one of many things Trump failed to implement it, although he promised to do it “on day one.”

President Donald Trump will announce his first round of tariffs on April 2.

One of the biggest sources of consumer fear is energy costs, with 36% of Americans calling it a “major” concern. This figure corresponds to Trump insisted on artificial intelligence should be deregulated even if experts warned that the new technology is a major consumer of electricity and may lead to increased energy costs.

“Donald Trump has dealt a devastating blow to the economy with his insane trade war and disastrous policies—and working families are paying the price,” said Democratic National Committee Rapid Response Director Kendall Whitmer. says the statement.

She added: “Costs on everything from groceries to electricity have risen, making it nearly impossible to find good-paying jobs. He sold out working Americans to line the pockets of the rich and powerful while trying to increase his power.”

Trump and congressional Republicans pushed an agenda that led to a government shutdown, hurting not only federal workers but also businesses that rely on federal spending. At the same time, Trump postponed financing for brutal anti-immigrant persecution and a campaign of ICE detentions.

Perhaps most damaging (and avoidable) is the damage Trump's idiotic tariffs have done to the economy. Tariffs increased the cost of doing business while failing to secure the number of trade deals Trump has promised, especially with China. The Trump effect is now harming a wide range of industries, especially agriculture.

This doesn't even take into account Trump's ongoing efforts to turn the federal government into his personal authoritarian tool. He used the government to try censor his critics independent bully thoughts on campuses, and prosecute political opposition.

No wonder millions took to the streets over the weekend to take part in the nationwide “No Kings” protest. And given the worsening economic conditions, the protests certainly won't end anytime soon.
