Maciocia now has a contract running through the 2029 season, while Maas is tied to the team until the end of the 2028 campaign.
Since arriving in Montreal, the two men have led the Alouettes to a Gray Cup championship in 2023, along with 33 regular-season wins over three years. Last year, the club posted a 12-5-1 regular season record, the best record in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Under Maciocia, who has been in charge since January 2020, the Alouettes have acquired several key players, most notably guard Davis Alexander. He and his team have also trained and mentored several star Canadian players such as Geoffrey Cantin-Arcu, David Dallaire, Marc-Antoine Dequois, Pierre-Olivier Lestage, Tyson Philpot, Tyrell Richards and Lval Uguak. The Alouettes have never missed the playoffs under their current general manager.
“I am grateful for the continued stability that Pierre Carl Péladeau has brought to this organization. I am also pleased that he continues to believe in Jason and me,” Maciocia said in a press release. I look forward to continuing to build a winning culture at the Alouettes under Coach Maas' leadership.
“Jason and I have worked together for many years and I'm glad to see that continue. Jason's leadership in the locker room has been a vital part of our success. We hold each other accountable every day and he has been one of the main reasons for our positive results on the field since his arrival.”
Moreover, Maas has a 33-19-1 record as head coach of the Alouettes.
“I thank Mr. Péladeau for his continued confidence in our project,” Maas said. The pursuit of excellence always starts at the top of an organization, and our owner is a great example. It's a pleasure to work with Danny again. We know exactly what we expect from each other and that has contributed greatly to our success over the last few seasons. I’m proud of the culture we’ve built together and look forward to continuing that work with him for years to come.”
The Sparrows are in second place in the CFL Eastern Section and are confident of playing at home in the playoffs. With a 10-7 record, they will complete their regular schedule on Saturday when they visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The postseason game at Percival-Molson Stadium will take place on November 1 or 8, depending on the team's placing in the final standings.
