Cowboys’ Brandon Aubrey becomes first kicker in NFL history with five made field goals of 60-plus yards

ARLINGTON, Texas – When Dallas Cowboys Professional kicker Brandon Aubrey drained a 64-yard field goal to send Dallas into overtime, ultimately defeating the team in overtime 40–37. New York Giants in week two, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb called Aubrey “the GOAT”.

This is only the third time for Aubrey. NFL season 2025, but in Dallas' victory over the team Washington commanders on Sunday afternoon, he added another item to his growing resume supporting Lamb's claim. Aubrey calmly kicked a 61-yard field goal to put Dallas up 20–8 midway through the second quarter and mark his fifth field goal of at least 60 yards. This is the most field goals made from 60 yards or deeper in NFL history. Even the league's official X/Twitter account added the phrase “with ease” when posting the highlight of his shot.

“It's going to be a living record and the players are going to get better and better every year. It's going to be hard to keep it with just five players,” Aubrey said after Sunday's game. “It's nice. It feels like I've set myself apart with a certain skill set that I think is hard to replicate, so I just want to continue to show that every week.”

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones marvels that he no longer feels stunned when Dallas kicks its kicker more than 60 yards out. This is Aubrey's testimony.

“I'm telling you, it doesn't surprise me, and it's ironic when we go out there. [from 60-plus yards]Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said after the game.

All Dallas coach Brian Schottenheimer could do when asked about Aubrey breaking the record was smile, laugh and shake his head as he thought about the latest story Aubrey made in Week 7.

“Let's talk about weapons. What is the record for most 60-yard field goals in a career? This guy is incredible, he really is incredible. He's incredible,” Schottenheimer said after the game. “Duck [Prescott] and I kind of laugh because literally when we get the ball he's like 50 [yard line]. I was like, “Yeah, 50.” … So he’s just amazing.”

Aubrey's crazy accomplishments include:

  • Early in his career, Aubrey made an NFL-record 35 consecutive field goals.
  • Aubrey's 14 field goals of 50 yards or deeper in 2024 are the most in a season in NFL history.
  • He owns the longest field goal in Cowboys history, a 65-yarder he made in Week 3 of last season against the Cowboys. Baltimore Ravenssecond longest field goal in NFL history.
  • Five have made career field goals of 60 yards or deeper, the most in NFL history.

He has now made 91 of his 100 career field goal attempts. No one has attempted or made more field goals than Aubrey since he entered the NFL in 2023.

“My goal has always been to get to 90%, so we are doing well enough to reach that goal,” he said. “I hope I can carry that into my career.”

The only difference Aubrey feels when hitting from 60 yards or deeper is as Dallas' long snapper. Trent Zig's enthusiasm for the ensuing celebratory helmet slap after the shot went through the uprights.

“My long bass definitely hits my head harder, so yeah,” Aubrey said when asked if he could feel the difference.

His range at AT&T Stadium, Schottenheimer said, is 50, where the Cowboys star sits right in the middle of the field. Aubrey's star will only get brighter and brighter the longer he continues to rewrite the NFL's all-time record books.

“It looks like it’s within my reach now,” Aubrey said. “That’s what I expect from myself, so I feel like I’m going through my process and treating it like any other putt.”
