Oshawa trailer fire leaves 1 child dead, two adults injured: police

The child died as a result fire in the trailer in OshawaOntario, leaving two more people seriously injured.

Durham Regional Police Acting Sgt. Joanne McCabe said that at approximately 2:18 p.m. Saturday, officers from the Oshawa Fire Department responded to reports of trouble and a possible vehicle fire on Elgin Street.

Police arrived on the scene three minutes after the call and found the trailer “fully engulfed in flames.”

McCabe said officers found a child who died in the trailer and took two others to the hospital. The man is in serious, non-life-threatening condition, and the woman is also being treated for serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Two firefighters were injured and treated for minor burns in the incident, Oshawa Fire Chief Steven Barkwell said.

The investigation is being conducted by the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office.
