Sidney Crosby in Montreal: Frank Seravalli goes the extra mile

There are rumors in Montreal that have been circulating for months. We started hearing about this last year, but recently several experts have added to it. There are rumors that Sidney Crosby could end his career with the Montreal Canadiens, his boyhood team. This week, Renaud Lavoie connected with Mike Mathesonwhich could be a compelling reason for Crosby to land in Montreal.

Darren Dreger also mentioned that the Habs will do everything they can. to land the Penguins superstar. There are still several experts who link Crosby to the Habs.(eg Michael Russo), but now Frank Seravalli has been added to the list during his last performance at Big Show.

According to Seravalli, the fact that Crosby has said in the past that he always liked the Habs when he was younger and that the team is starting to fill out is a good reason for him to ask for a trade to come and play in Montreal.

However, Seravalli adds a nuance to this. First of all, it will depend on him. If he is traded, he will be the one asking the Penguins to send him to the Canadiens, not the Penguins asking him. Moreover, Seravalli notes that this must be a special scenario. He remains cagey, but notes that Crosby's love for the team, dating back to his childhood, and the ovation he received at the Four Nations go a long way in the equation. However, that doesn't mean No. 87 is necessarily coming to Montreal, as Seravalli points out. A deal like this is never easy. There is a lot to discuss before an agreement can be reached, and Crosby's case is special because he will be the one who will decide his fate for the rest of his career. While the Habs are not a contender just yet, multiple injuries to the Florida Panthers and some of the other aging teams in the East could certainly benefit the Habs. adding Crosby to this lineup will only strengthen the group. This will bring stability to the center (he's effective in the faceoff circle, left-handed, experienced and very talented) and the Habs definitely won't be a team to ignore. Just imagine Crosby centering Ivan Demidov (and whoever the other striker is)…. Demidov would have been much better surrounded and the power play would have been extremely dangerous. The next question will be the price that will have to be paid to acquire Crosby. And since Crosby has a big stick, that will force the Penguins general manager to settle for less than he would like. One thing is for sure: Crosby will be greeted like a king in Montreal.
