Sabrina Carpenter Hosts ‘SNL,’ Featuring Domingo’s Return, Censoring Flubs

Sabrina Carpenter pulled double duty in her Saturday Night Live debut.

Ahead of 'SNL' Season 51, Carpenter acted as host and musical guest October 18.

The “Espresso” singer is no stranger to late-night comedy sketch shows. Performed as musical guest in May 2024. along with host Jake Gyllenhaal, sang a duet with Paul Simon during “SNL50” and did cameo during Quinta Brunson's monologue back in May.

Carpenter's episode was full of silly and musical moments, including the return of a beloved recurring character. Domingo, played by Marcello Hernandez.

cold open brought back Chloe Fineman and Andrew Dismukes as Kelsey and Matt, a couple who somehow stayed together despite her multiple affairs with Domingo, constantly revealed in songs at life's most important moments, including theirs wedding, baby shower, vow renewal and now Matt is 30 years old.

Despite Matt's birthday, Kelsey surprised him her best friends played by Sabrina Carpenter, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla and new cast Veronica Slovikowska.

Following tradition, the group of friends sang about going to Nashville to “find the most magical birthday gift” for Matt. They sang a parody of Taylor Swift's new tune “Ophelia's Fate” the lyrics are laced with details of Kelsey's latest infidelity and her “one night stand with Domingo.”

Kelsey promised Matt that the next song wouldn't be about Domingo, but she was proven wrong when her friends started saying his name to the tune of Lady Gaga's “Abracadabra” and shared more details about their meeting in Nashville.

She tried to reassure Matt that Domingo had been her in the past, a claim that was also immediately debunked when Domingo showed up at the party – goatee and all – and declared that their night together in Nashville was “not exactly normal.”

In her musical performances for the evening, Carpenter sang first. “Human” from her new album “Man's Best Friend”. During this performance, she censored some of the song's more explicit lyrics in the chorus, singing instead, “Eh, my life, won't you leave an innocent woman alone?”

However, for her second performance of the evening, she let the original lyrics flow. “Nobody's son” profanity and all that.

At the end of the speech, which aired after 1 a.m. ET due to delays on airCarpenter did not censor the song's lyrics. Instead, she sang the ever-present line, “He sure as hell fucked me up,” twice during the East Coast broadcast, which was shown in clips distributed on social media site X.

SNL published a censored version on social networks, but as one fan noted in the Instagram comments section, “Guys, it's too late, we already heard it.”

This moment reminded me season 50 viewer error during Ego Nwodim's appearance on “Weekend Update”.

In an unplanned moment, as Nwodim joked with the crowd, she referenced Senator Cory Booker's speech to the Senate: which set a new record. At the time, she told the audience: “Cory Booker is here with his filibuster. Man, I've had enough of the attackers. Because who are these people?”

“Crap!” the crowd responded, much to the surprise of Nwodim and co-hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che, who immediately began laughing at the gaffe on air.

Nwodim agreed with the mistake, adding: “We're going to get fined for this. You're all going to have to pay for this. Lorne's going to be mad at you.”
