Lucretia Martel's Sights (Our Earth) won the award for best film in the official competition this year London Film Festival.
The winners were announced this afternoon, the final day of the competition. LFF.
The official LFF competition was hosted by Elisabeth Carlsen. She was joined by director and artist Kalil Joseph and New York critic Justin Chang. We discuss why they chose Attractions, The jury said in a statement: “With deep empathy and extraordinary journalistic and cinematic rigor, director Lucrezia Martel delves deeply into the events surrounding the 2009 assassination of Chuschagasta leader Javier Chocobar in the Argentine province of Tucumán.”
The jury added: “By highlighting contemporary voices and forgotten histories, Martel presents a portrait of and for indigenous people and provides them with a measure of justice that the courts have long denied them. In an extremely competitive environment, our jury is proud to celebrate this exceptional achievement.”
