IN Pokemon Legends: ZA, Mega Evolutions are one of the main features as many Pokemon are capable of Mega Evolution and this is a mechanic you will need to use to take down some powerful enemies in the future.
Of course, your Pokémon can't Mega Evolve without the corresponding Mega Stone, so if you're itching to get that fun Mega Star right now, we've got some bad news for you. Some of the Mega Stones can't be obtained until you beat the game, so you might be stuck with regular old Starmie until you reach that point.
You'll unlock the Mega Evolution ability after completing Main Mission 9, which introduces you to the concept and forces you to fight Mega Absol, but you won't automatically unlock all the Mega Stones – you'll need to keep playing to unlock more. Once you've walked this far, the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue will start selling Mega Stones, and soon after you'll be introduced to the Mega Stone store inside Quasartico Inc.
The rule of thumb is that if you see a Rogue Mega Evolution on your card as part of the story, you can safely assume that you will get their Mega Stone after defeating them. If you see one of the main NPC characters using a certain Mega, you will be able to purchase that Mega Stone from Quasartico Inc. after completing this story arc.
