Angry Birds 2 to bring back the fan-favourite Space biome for a limited-time event

  • Angry Birds 2 returns to space in new limited-time public event
  • Take gravity-defying measures to achieve a new community goal.
  • Collect feathers and earn rewards such as in-game currency and cosmetics.

While Sega's acquisition of Rovio has raised a lot of concerns that their classic Angry Birds franchise might be falling by the wayside, that doesn't seem to be the case. Although Rovio was very insistent on bringing Sega's Sonic to mobile devices, they also had plenty of time to save Angry Birds fans are happytoo much.

Now we can't wait to see the return of the fan-favorite space biome in Angry Birds 2! The biome returns in a limited-time event that introduces new mechanics, a redesigned look, and even a shared community goal for players to strive to achieve from October 24 to November 21.

The community's goal is to collect as many feathers as possible, and the Angry Birds Space 2 website will track progress toward the goal in real time. Key milestones unlock exclusive rewards like in-game currency and cosmetic items, culminating in what they've rather cryptically dubbed Red, literally going into space.

As you'd expect, this new environment also means a host of new gameplay features. There is a gravity system, ways to defy gravity, jump on planets and much more that you will have to figure out and experience for yourself.

I don't think any of us seriously thought that Sega would force Rovio to abandon Angry Birds, but it's always nice to see that they aren't pushing it to the side. Red is arguably as recognizable a character as Sonic, so it's always nice to see a classic get attention.

Now we just have to wait and see if there will be another sequel.
