This monthly series compares worldwide sales of Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch 1.
Nintendo Switch 2 was released in June 2025, and Nintendo Switch was released in March 2017. This means that the holiday periods for the two consoles are not the same.

August 2025 is the third month of availability for the Nintendo Switch 2. In the last month, Switch 2 sales exceeded Switch 1 sales by 0.62 million units when releases are combined. Switch 2 now leads Switch 1 by 4.58 million units.
The third month for Switch 2 is August 2025, and for Switch 1 it is May 2017. Switch 2 sold 8.16 million units and Switch 1 sold 3.58 million units during the same period.
Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 151.62 million units to date. Switch 2 currently trails Switch 1 sales by 143.46 million units.
