Eugenio Suárez slam puts Seattle Mariners one win from first World Series | MLB

Eugenio Suarez's second home run of the game, a grand slam in the eighth inning, broke the tie as the Seattle Mariners beat the Seattle Mariners. Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 on Friday to regain control of the American League Championship Series.

Cal Raleigh sparked the rally with a leadoff homer in the eighth, and the Mariners took a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

A Game 6 win in Toronto on Sunday would send Seattle to the World Series for the first time.

Raleigh just cleared the left field fence from left-hander Brandon Little (0-1) to tie the game 2-2. It was Raleigh's fourth playoff homer after hitting a major league-best 60 in the regular season.

Little then walked Jorge Polanco and Josh Naylor before being pulled to Seranthony Dominguez, who hit Randy Arozarena with a pitch to load the bases with no outs.

Suarez, who opened the scoring with a solo shot in the second, hit an opposite-field forehand that shook the foundations of T-Mobile Park.

Gabe Speier (1-0) pitched a scoreless inning for the win, and Seattle closer Andres Munoz worked a 1-2-3 ninth in a no-save situation.

Blue Jays leadoff hitter and designated hitter George Springer, who finished the tie with a double in the fifth inning, was forced to leave the game after taking a hit to his right knee in the seventh. There was no word on his status until the end of the series.

Toronto led the way in the sixth behind Brian Wu, who made his first career appearance as a substitute outside of this summer's All-Star Game in Atlanta.

Wu, who hasn't pitched since Sept. 19 with a pectoral strain that kept him out of the AL Division Series lineup, was greeted by backup Alejandro Kirk in right center. A little later, Ernie Clement, who had led off an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded in the fourth, lined a single to right field, giving Toronto a 2–1 lead.

Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman went five and two-thirds innings and gave up one run on three hits. The right-hander walked three and struck out four.

Seattle starter Bryce Miller pitched more than four innings and was charged with one run on four hits, two walks and four strikeouts.
