Mike Gauthier regrets not being able to go on air this weekend to perform Kiss songs in honor of late guitarist Ace Frehley, whom he previously interviewed.

“I interviewed him and was excited like a kid, telling him about the touring show. Dynasty in 1979, discussing various noteworthy points. He just told me, “Mike, you remember more than I do. I was on stage, but I wasn't there because of my drug problems.” I was shocked by his answer. I almost felt sad,” the host says in his latest Facebook post.

Tour Dynasty Kiss in August 1979 was Mike Gauthier's first concert at the Montreal Forum.

“Ace's stage presence was wonderful, his attitude on stage, moves rock stars and that moment when the guitar flies away and creates a “flame” that reaches the top of the stage, spinning all the time,” he continues, recalling the guitarist’s two solo concerts in Montreal in 1995 and 2008.

“I think all the members of Kiss contributed to the band's legend, but Ace was kind of the mortar that cemented the structure. He also had the basic idea for the Kiss logo,” he recalls, adding “RIP Spaceman.”

Health status
