Courage and brightness are the slogans of many Dyson', but lately the brand has taken a more subtle and elegant route with its hair care line. It's in that spirit that we now have 'Amber Silk', a new limited edition colorway available for the Airwrap and other Dyson hair care gadgets.
It's marketed as a holiday color, but it's a far cry from the vibrant reds and greens. Think less about “Santa's grotto” and more about “expensive drinks party.” Amber Silk has a matte metallic hue and combines three muted tones, each inspired by a different element of the holiday season.
The main color is “warm copper,” an orange hue inspired by the “amber glow of campfires” and, less obviously, “the enduring beauty of the season.” It's paired with “pale champagne pink,” a kind of dark pink shade with obvious holiday undertones. Finally, continuing the booze theme, the buttons and switches feature “toasted burgundy” accents inspired by mulled wine.
While I love the tropical blue and orange colors of my own Airwrap, I can't help but be won over by Dyson's new, cooler color options. At the beginning of the year the brand Jasper Plum and Red Velvet & Gold themes debuted – the latter of which is perhaps more festive than the new Amber Silk, but that’s by the way. Since then, more options have been added for some styles, all of which fall firmly into the “elegant and muted” color category.
Dyson makes some very best hair styling tools on the market, but they have a high price. The more subtle color options feel more premium than the all-tropical tones that came before, and perhaps suit the target audience a little better.
You can match the Amber Silk colorway to most Dyson hair care gadgets, including Transfer ID. and it's brand new, more powerful brother Airwrap Co-anda2x, Air strait straighteners for wet to straight straightening, as well as Supersonic Nural And Supersonic hair dryers. It is widely available – look at Dyson USA, Dyson UK or Dyson Australia shops.
Even though it's described as a limited edition, I suspect it will stick around for a while if it proves popular – the previous limited edition colors were released in January and are still available to purchase.
