Warner Bros. decision to postpone the cases of Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah Batgirl The film, more than three years ago, became a scene heard throughout the film world. The choice has sparked a backlash from fans that has so far been ignored, but one person involved in the film's production believes it could have some potential for release one day.
“I had a chance to watch it and it was phenomenal film– said Jacob Scipio, one of the stars of the film. Direct in a new interview. “Man, I'm really sad that the world never got to see this. But you know, you never know. You never know.”
He also noted the film's history with Warner Bros. Coyote vs Acme gives him some hope. “It was great that they saved [Coyote vs. Acme]I will have a ticket, I will buy it and watch this film myself. So there is always hope,” Scipio told the publication. “Hollywood is a funny place, and I think if enough people want it, it can happen.”
In 2022, Warner Bros. delayed the Batgirl movie as a tax write-off, even though it was nearly finished at the time of the decision. The cost-cutting measure caused not only a negative reaction from fans, but also gutted reactions from El-Arbi, Fallah and star Leslie Grace. DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran stated in 2023 that the film “there was no way to release” and “would hurt the District of Columbia.”
But Warner Bros did it again with the well-reviewed and highly anticipated Coyote vs. Acme in 2023, even though that too was finished. This backlash was even greater than Batgirl's and was saved from never seeing the light of day over a year later by Ketchup Entertainment, who purchased the film after a long period of negotiating a deal with Warner Bros. The film will premiere in theaters on August 28, 2026.
I hope Batgirl follows in her footsteps someday.
