Longtime Pokemon fans will tell you that nothing beats the “gotta catch 'em all” energy that each game provides. Pokemon Legends: ZA there are probably hundreds of animals to catch and raise, drawn from multiple generations from across the franchise. The game's menagerie looks impressive so far, as we see classic Pokémon like Pikachu and Dragonite sharing space with fan-favorite creatures like Umbreon, Metagross, and Espurr from later games. Either way, our guide has all the details you need as we discuss each available creature and the specific locations where you can find them.
Where to catch all the Pokemon in Lumiose City
There are 230 Pokémon in Pokemon Legends: ZA, and they are scattered throughout Lumiose City. We've also compiled our guide based on their Pokedex entries. Here are a few more points to keep in mind:
- If you're just starting a campaign, we recommend you check out our best guide for beginners And The Best Guide to Early Game Creatures.
- The vast majority of Pokémon spawn in wild areas, which are similar to their native habitat. At the beginning of the game you will only see a couple of them. However, as you progress in the campaign, you will unlock more of these areas. The last one, Wild Zone 20, becomes available after completing the main story.
- Some Pokémon may appear in other places, such as sewers, alleys, and rooftops. Some of them can be obtained as rewards for completing side quests.
- Alpha options And Brilliant options may appear, albeit randomly, in place of the regular versions.
- Some Pokémon only appear during the day (i.e. diurnal), and a select few only appear at night (i.e. nighttime). You can speed up the passage of time and the day-night cycle by resting on a bench.
- Also returning to the game is Mega Evolution, a powerful but temporary power boost that can turn the tide of battle if used correctly. We discuss this in our Mega Evolution Guide.
- The Mega Dimension expansion will release on February 28, 2026. This paid DLC will focus on more Mega Evolutions and Raichu, as the final evolutionary form of Pichu and Pikachu features prominently in the story expansion.
Note: It's a good idea to keep catching Pokemon even if you already have them in your Pokedex. This is because you continue to earn points based on calculations that are part of Mabel's research. As you increase your rank, you will receive rewards, including Technical machines/TM.
