Putting the “fun” into the “fungus”.
WarframeThe Vallis Undermind update brought Nightcap, a new face (well, a new metal plate, actually) to Fortuna after Narmer. Maximizing your reputation as a Mushroom Gatherer is different from the rest of the Syndicates, as Nightcap reputation uses a new system.
The biggest advantage of the new supplier is that there is no limit to how much Nightcap reputation you can earn in a day. This is a huge and welcome change from Warframeother factions that block your progress after a certain point. Here's what you need to know to improve your Nightcap ranking.
Guide to standing with a nightcap in Warframe

Underground mine rewards are the core of The Vallis Undermind. This is the only way to obtain parts for Nocco, Warframemushroom masterand are necessary to expand your connections with Nightcap.
Instead of running through missions and seeing their numbers grow, you improve your reputation with Nightcap by collecting mushrooms in Deepmine contracts, similar to Hex treasures in Höllvania. You can use these resources to fill out his field guide—essentially a Pokédex for Venus mushrooms. They are affected by the effect of the Orokin Eyes, so use it if you built the Parallax Dropship from the Zariman Location Set.
Completing the reward gives you Fergolitebut each bonus objective of the Deepmine contract drops an additional mushroom at the end of the mission. Although this is a fairly simple system, there are increasing demands on it and there is a level of RNG. We've broken it down below.
How to increase your Nightcap rating in Warframe

The Field Guide contains 16 species of mushrooms found in the depths of Fortuna, and Nightcap's research requires you to go to the Deep Mines to find them. You increase your ranking in Nightcap by completing entries in the Field Guide.. Each mushroom has three levels of analysis, but you will need more samples for each level. Their rarity also affects the number of specimens needed.
In our experience, there are three main types of mushrooms, the exception being Dull Button.
| Rarity | Required amount (first level) | Required amount (second level) | Required amount (third level) | Total required |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| General | 3 | 6 | 9 | 18 |
| Unusual | 4 | 8 | 12 | 24 |
| Rare | 5 | 10 | 15 | 30 |
Completing a research level requires you to turn in mushrooms to the Nightcap, which will deplete your supply. For example, if you had five samples of a regular mushroom, you would give him three, leaving two more in your inventory.
Here's how many mushrooms it takes to reach each reputation level with him, according to Digital extremes:
| Rank number | Rank name | Full analysis required |
|---|---|---|
| One | Without knowing | One |
| Two | Curious | Two |
| Three | Seeker | Six |
| Four | Gardener | 12 |
| Five | Steward | 16 |
If you have no luck with bonus rewards or spawning during a mission, Nightcap sells mushrooms for Fergolith.a resource that can be obtained by completing Deepmine contracts or by composting unused mushrooms. Each specimen costs 10 Fergolits regardless of rarity, but the rarest ones are assigned to higher Nightcap ranks.
Boosting your rankings with Nightcap is a new, updated formula. His inventory has some interesting offerings, including all Nokko pieces and rare Arcana, so be prepared to snap every mushroom you see. As is typical for the Fortuna NPC, the rank 5 Nightcap opens his chest plate, pressing his face to the strange helmet you were talking to.
