Former St. Francis guard Andre Henry ready for sixth year at UC Irvine

In his sixth year of basketball at UC Irvine, former St. Francis guard Andre Henry has become so familiar with coach Russell Turner that the two consider each other family.

Henry, who was injured last season after nine games, is back healthy and Turner believes he is ready to be a standout player on offense and defense this season.

He calls Henry one of the best recruits he ever signed from St. Francis in 2020. He was the Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2023-24.

“Andre was probably the best recruit we've ever had,” Turner said in his 16th season. “I've seen him develop his team at St. Francis and he's still the same personality. I'm excited about where things are now and he's going to have a great season on both sides of the ball. The sky's the limit on what he can achieve.”

The UC Irvine men's basketball coach talks about how Andre Henry became a standout player on the court for the Anteaters.

Turner said he is grateful for Henry's dedication and commitment to the UC Irvine basketball program.

“Andre became family to me and my employees,” he said. “He's made great sacrifices to stay in our program. I think he sees how committed we are to him, and I certainly see how committed he and his family are to us. Hopefully we can write the end of a great story in his sixth year.”
