Jennifer Aniston is entering an era of power, but it didn't happen overnight. Now we know that our favorite actor and producer dedicated fitness enthusiast. However, that was until a friend introduced her to Pvolve – a fitness method designed for develop strength and mobility — that she had finally overcome some of her previous misconceptions about strength training. To wit: “Strength training—lifting weights—doesn't make you bulky,” Aniston tells POPSUGAR. “I've seen amazing results.”

Research shows that strength training plays an important role in weight loss, but there is many other benefits this makes it a staple in Aniston's fitness routine. “[Strength training] very important for longevity and muscle building. . . and make sure you don’t break your hip,” Aniston says. Resistance training, like those used in many Pvolve workouts, is especially good for building muscle in a sustainable manner—especially if traditional cardio and highly effective methods tend to bore you.

By this point, Aniston had really fallen in love with Pvolve's approach after suffering a back injury on set. She later joined the team as an ambassador in 2023. “I value Pvolve's training because it builds physical strength as well as energy and confidence,” she says. “With Pvolve, I can avoid burnout and stay consistent with my fitness goals, even with my busy work schedule.”

Considering how Pvolve has changed Aniston's game, we decided to try it out for ourselves. Here's what happened after testing out a few different Pvolve workouts and some of Aniston's core workouts.

Pvolve method

When I imagined Aniston's workout, I envisioned a gym session that required endurance and sweat that would challenge any athlete. So, you can imagine how (pleasantly) I was surprised to discover that the star's preferred fitness regimen is actually quite practical. “I have had to face physical challenges because of how hard I have trained and abused my body over the years,” Aniston. previously told POPSUGAR. “The consistency of Pvolve is much higher because it’s a different workout every time; they are never repeated.”

Pvolve offers a wide range of workouts on its website, from curated challenges to travel-friendly workouts. This fall, users will also be able to try Strong for the autumn challengerunning from October 22 to November 12. This three-week program (available in the studio or on demand) challenges you to complete 10 different workouts and feel stronger than ever. “You'll feel incredible after this,” Aniston promises.

Equipment Pvolve

To understand what all the fuss is about, I put Pvolve Basics Pack ($374, originally $449) per test. The Aniston-approved equipment package includes six of the star's favorite workout tools for sculpting and strengthening her body: P.ball, P.band, P.3 Trainer, Heavy Ankle Board, Slant Board and Glider Discs. These products are designed to train the body in a variety of ways: the ball is great for improving lower body strength, while resistance bands and gliders can help shape the upper body and strengthen the core.

However, Aniston has something of a love-hate relationship with some gear. “I love all the equipment…the slant board is the only thing I think about, 'Oh no, not the slant board,'” she jokes. She adds that gliders are also “dangerous” because of how effectively they push your body. “They're hurting, but I love them,” she says. “It works your whole body, from top to bottom—arms, core, legs, everything.”

My Pvolve experience

With Aniston's Pvolve equipment at my disposal, I was ready to try her workout. I tried out two workouts from Aniston's 30-day Pvolve regimen: a 33-minute upper body and core course led by her trainer. Dani Colemanand a lower body sculpting and mobility course taught by Pvolve Chief Training Officer Antonietta Vicario.

The first session focused on strengthening the arms and core, as well as improving posture, all using the P.3 machine (a full-body resistance band with an attached handle and a weighted ball). Coleman, Aniston's Pvolve coach, began the workout with a light five-minute warm-up consisting of arm stretches and stabilizing poses that included a machine ball.

After attaching an ankle cuff and resistance cord, Coleman then led us through reps that included arm raises (using the handle of the resistance machine) and hip abductions. Unlike other upper body classes I've tried, this format felt intentionally slower, giving me the opportunity to pay attention to which muscles I was working in real time. Throughout the course, I felt the most tension in my back and forearms, which makes sense considering those are definitely my two weakest areas in terms of muscle development. But the best part is that although the workout was challenging, it wasn't too tiring—after just a few hours, I felt inspired to try another course.

The second session focused on the glutes, inner thighs and core, giving me the opportunity to test out the handy P.ball. This patented tool fits like pants and fits between your thighs; Despite the hook-and-eye closure, the ball also has an extension that can be used for people with larger hips. This course was a little longer than other lower-body-focused options, but it included a wide range of exercises, including lunges, hip rotations and thrusts, yoga poses (like downward dog), hip squeezes, and balancing stances that required me to put all of my body weight on just one leg.

At the beginning of the class, the trainer said that the course involved “a lot of stabilization work,” and this turned out to be correct. Of all the exercises I tried, this one tested my balance the most, especially during reps when my feet and hips were pointing in different directions. As the workout progressed, my balance continued to deteriorate, which Antonietta assured me was simply part of the adaptation to the Pvolve method. “Every muscle works together to create complex functional strength… that doesn't mean we don't have imbalances in the body, but hopefully when you come to Pvolve you notice, you learn, [and] you’re interested in learning about your body,” Antonitta said during the class.

Things to note about the equipment

My biggest concern with Aniston's Pvolve Essentials Bundle is that while it's designed for home use, it takes up a fair amount of space, especially if you're using Precision mat for greater accuracy. I have a full house for working out, but I still needed to reorganize it to create a dedicated space for my daily Pvolve workouts.

Does the Pvolve Method Really Work?

It's hard to report noticeable results after just a few sessions, but I can definitely vouch for Pvolve's effectiveness in targeting the “muscles that never get touched,” as Aniston describes it. The training method goes beyond basic strength training and trains my body in a meaningful way, without the usual pain that accompanies traditional high-intensity cardio; I literally feel resistance in every movement.

Historically, I dreaded working out and looked at it as a chore rather than something I really cared about. Pvolve's functional training equipment and classes have inspired me to look at fitness differently, with a new understanding of what you Maybe challenge your body without having to put enormous pressure on your joints and muscles. Harder training doesn't always mean better results. Although Pwolwe's method is deceptively complex, it seems much more sustainable and I feel like I can actually follow it at different stages of my life. For anyone looking for an alternative training method that is low impact, fun, and fairly easy to do at home, Pvolve is one of the best I've tried.
