Trump And Kash Patel Give Major Update On Sweeping Crime Crackdown

President Donald Trump and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Cash Patel announced a major update Wednesday on the administration's sweeping crime-fighting efforts.

Patel announced that during Operation Summer Heat, from June 24 to September 20, 2025, officials made 8,629 arrests, seized 2,261 firearms, 421 kilograms of fentanyl and nearly 45,000 kilograms of cocaine. Arrests of violent criminals have also increased by 86% since former President Joe Biden's administration.

In seven months, federal law enforcement arrested a record 28,600 violent criminals, Patel said.

The FBI has arrested between 15,000 and 17,113 violent criminals during the Biden administration, according to the White House.

The administration has moved to combat crime in major U.S. cities, deploying the National Guard to increase arrests in those areas. In Washington, D.C., federal law enforcement has arrested more than 3,500 criminals since the federalization of the Metropolitan Police Department in August. according to for CBS News.

The National Guard was also deployed in Memphis, Tennessee, and Chicago, Illinois. Memphis Security Task Force arrested as of Monday at least 800 people, including murder and drug suspects.
