Love may be blind, but that doesn't mean your romantic partner's eating habits won't ever disgust you.
Love Is Blind Season 9 star Megan Valerius found this out first-hand when she agreed to try her fiancé Jordan Keltner's signature smoothie in the Season 9 episode “Love is Blind.”
The couple got engaged quietly while chatting in the Love Is Blind dating pods, and then moving in together after meeting for the first time in person. In episode nine, Jordan made a chicken smoothie for his future bride.
The comedy scene began with the duo standing in the kitchen. Jordan pulled out a bag of chicken and sniffed it, saying, “Good stuff.” He then noted that the smoothie included eight ounces of chicken.
“How do you cook this chicken?” – Megan asked.
“It doesn't cook at all. Just kidding. I just bake it,” he said.
Jordan filled a container with water and poured a packet of Crystal Light drink mix into it. Watching this, Megan made several nervous sounds, anticipating the taste of a unique creation. Jordan then mixed everything together in a NutriBullet.
When Jordan took the lid off the mixture, Megan exclaimed, “Oh, I can feel it!” and waved her hands in the air.
“Smells like chicken. Who cares?” answered her fiancé.
Before drinking, Megan sniffed the contents of her glass and made a gagging sound.
“So we say, 'Hurray!' and then you just swallow it,” Jordan advised his fiancee.
After taking a sip, Megan spat lightly and said, “No, uh-huh.” She put the glass down and waved her hand in the air again.
Jordan tried to stay strong and finish his drink, but he leaned over the sink and slammed his fist on the countertop.
“It’s so awesome,” she said of the smoothie. “Oh my God, the texture.”
“It sure is a little rough sometimes,” Jordan replied as he continued to finish his drink.
While drinking, Jordan developed a mustache that resembled a chicken smoothie.
“Mustache, I can’t,” she said, and they both laughed.
Megan then gave her final verdict on the drink, saying: “Ugh, I might never see this again in my life.”
“It's normal, you just need to see it every morning for the next 50, 60, 70, maybe 80 years,” Jordan said, before proceeding to describe the drink's calories (350) and protein content (55 grams).
Jordan then invited Megan to feel his muscles, saying, “Feel it. Feel it. See it?”
Megan reminded him that he could get the same amount of protein by eating six eggs.
“But it’s a lot faster than cooking six eggs,” he argued.
“Eww,” she said.
In a later episode, Megan met Jordan's parents and recalled the smoothie moment.
“It was funny. I'm like a foodie and Jordan (makes) chicken smoothies,” she said.
His mother looked surprised and then asked, “Are you still doing this?”
Jordan responded with one word: “Allegedly.”
