After Sunday's loss, Tagovailoa publicly criticized teammates for either being late or not attending player-only meetings. “I made a mistake and now I admit it” Tagovailoa said.

The former Dolphins Pro Bowl defensive end said he has spoken with other team leaders about his comments, adding that they “know my intentions were correct.”

“The intention may be right,” he said, “but when something is misconstrued or the media wants to portray it the way they want, it leaves a void of silence and a lot of questions for the guys on our team.”

In addition to adding to the outside noise, Tagovailoa also acknowledged that he hasn't protected the locker room by speaking publicly about the team's business.

“I felt like I let the emotion of the game come through to me after the game,” he said. “That’s something I can learn from as a leader of this team. What happens within the team must be protected, and none of it can be leaked out. And so I want to publicly apologize for this. I want to move forward and focus on the Cleveland Browns.

As Tagovailoa surely knows, a win can improve a lot for a struggling team. Luckily for the Dolphins, their next opponent also won just one game and started the 2025 season just as wildly.
