St James Academy have already made an impressive undefeated start to the 2025 high school football season in their first year of play, with several jaw-dropping wins on their resume. The Strikers are now looking to take things up a notch next season.
According to the Director of Football Relations and Head Coach of St. James Academy. Darryl Overton reported to Rivals on Wednesday morning that the Strivers would meet Mater It (California) to begin the 2026 high school football season.

“We’re actually going to Mater Dei for the first game next year,” Overton said Wednesday morning. “We want to compete at the highest level. We will continue to compete against the best teams. You mentioned teams like St. Frances Academy and IMG, some of those teams are a barometer of what this is all about.”
The Strikers have certainly made a name for themselves not only in the state of Virginia, but also nationally. One of the wins this season that really stood out for St. James Academy was the win over Team Canada. Clarkson Football North (win 76-42), Good advice Maryland (47–3 win) and win Their school last week, 30-14.
This week, St. James Academy takes their show to the Sunshine State where they will take on First Academy (4-4) in Orlando. “Strivers” will fight with the third number St. Francis Academy November 1st in Baltimore for a game that promises to be DMV Game of the Year.
