Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams respond to Troy Aikman’s perceived criticism of offense

Monday night's win over the Commanders included some criticism of the Bears' offense from ESPN analyst Troy Aikman. Some felt that Aikman was too critical of quarterback Caleb Williams and that Aikman downplayed some moments as the result of “luck.”

Williams and Bears coach Ben Johnson responded Tuesday.

“It sounded like there were a few people in that game last night not particularly happy with the way we're winning nowJohnson said on ESPN 1000, via Mike Pendleton of USA today. “I woke up this morning and my kids were watching the second half before school, so I heard some comments. But look, in this league, you can find a way to win any way you can.”

Johnson was asked about the comments at the end of his press conference after the day.

“Look, if you want respect in this league, you have to earn it,” Johnson said. “And that's where we are now. We need to earn that respect, not just from the rest of the NFL teams, but from everyone, that's where we are.”

On Instagram, Williams wrote: “Nations Cap[ital] good to be back! “Lucky” -TA. 'Vuopti Du.'”

The Bears will no longer play Monday night football this year, unless you count games like Week 14 or Week 16 against the Packers late in the season.
