In a statement to IGN, a Ubisoft spokesperson said: “Following an organizational restructuring announced in March 2025, Marc-Alexis Côté has decided to pursue a new path outside of Ubisoft. While we are sad to see him go, we are confident that our talented teams will carry forward the strong foundation he helped build.

“We are deeply grateful to Marc-Alexis for the influence he has had over the years, especially in shaping the Assassin's Creed brand into what it is today. His leadership, creativity and dedication have left an indelible mark on our teams and our players. We sincerely thank him for his many contributions and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.”

Vantage Studios launched just two weeks ago.. The studio, which currently handles the Assassin's Creed franchise along with Rainbow Siege and Far Cry, is a less centralized development studio where teams have more autonomy over their series. Vantage Studios was founded after a tumultuous period for Ubisoft, with Tencent eventually investing €1.16 billion in this new business venture.

For Côté, this marks the end of approximately two decades at Ubisoft. He first started working for the company as a software engineer and then joined the AC team to work on Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. After this, he found himself in a starring role throughout the series, shaping its future. That is, until recently.
