Laufey, a Grammy Award-winning artist, creates a children's story inspired by her mascot nickname, Mei-Mei the Bunny.
NEW YORK — NEW YORK (AP) — She's won a Grammy, collaborated with Barbra Streisand and performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Now Laufey takes on a new challenge: creating a children's story inspired by her mascot nickname, Mei Mei the bunny.
On Tuesday, Penguin Workshop announced that Laufey's illustrated picture book, Mei Mei's Rabbit, by Lauren O'Hara, will be published April 21. The book, illustrated by Lauren O'Hara, follows Mei Mei's determination to become a professional musician, even as she faces some initial challenges.
“I’m so excited to bring you Mei Mei the Bunny in storybook form!” Laufey said this in a statement. “Mei Mei has been a part of my life for the past few years, and discovering the world around her has been the most beautiful exploration. I hope that anyone at any age can find something in Mei Mei's story that inspires them and connects them with the people in their life.”
Iceland-born Laufey Lyn Bing Jonsdottir, 26, is known for her distinctive blend of pop, classical and jazz. Her 2023 release “Bewitched” won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Earlier this year, she released the album “A Matter of Time.”
