John Travolta paid tribute to his late wife Kelly Preston with a special project he worked on.
On October 13, Preston's 63rd birthday, Travolta shared a song he recorded and dedicated to her.
“I recorded this song for Kelly and wanted to share it with you all on her birthday,” the “Grease” star wrote on Instagram. Instagram“Happy birthday Kelly, we love you.”
He signed the message “John” as well as their two children, daughter Ella and son Ben.
“I'll love you like no one has ever loved you/rain or shine/high as a mountain and deep as a river/rain or shine,” Travolta sings. “I think when you met me it was just one of those things.”
Travolta continues, in part: “But don't ever make a bet with me 'cause I'll be truthful if you let me. You'll love me like no one has ever loved me / come rain or come shine / happy together, miserable together.”
In the comments section, Ella Travolta added three red heart emojis. on it Instagram storyShe also posted a photo of her mom, writing, “Happy Birthday Mom. I love you so much” with a pink heart emoji.
Preston died in 2020 at the age of 57 after a two-year battle with breast cancer. She and the Pulp Fiction star were married from 1991 until her death.
The family previously suffered another heartbreak in 2009 when John Travolta and Preston's son Jettwho suffered a fatal seizure at the age of 16.
Over the years, John and Ella Travolta have honored Preston on social media and through their work. Ella Travolta, who is also a singer, paid tribute to her mother on her 2024 EP with the song “Little Bird.” Its music video includes family footage.
During a November 2024 appearance on the third hour of TODAY. Ella Travolta explained the meaning of the song.
“I think it's different for every bereaved person, but for me personally it was just a pure message I wanted to give to my mom.” She said. “Because even though there can be so much support from everyone, sometimes it can get in the way of how you really feel and how you want to convey those final words to that person.”
“It was kind of a message from the baby bird to the mama bird and also to yourself because you will always know what is right,” she added.
