HP Lovecraft is responsible for a long list classic horror stories who continue to have a major influence in the worlds of literature, film, television and video games. The author's blend of suspenseful cosmic horror with sci-fi/fantasy and gothic – almost always with a healthy dose strange— is so recognizable that the word “Lovecraft” is used to describe stories inspired by his work. Stories like “Call of Cthulhu” and “At the Mountains of Madness” are still worth reading almost 100 years after they were first published. These stories and the rest of the author's writings were recently collected in a collection. a two-volume box set called The HP Lovecraft Experience— and fans can save 25% on this amazing collection on Amazon.
The HP Lovecraft Historical Society worked with publisher Weldon Owen (of Insight Editions) to create an extensive two-volume collection. The HP Lovecraft Experience Deluxe Box Set, released in August with a suggested retail price of $100, now retails for $74.80.
$74.80 (was $100)
This is almost certainly the most stunning collection of Lovecraft you can find in a major retail or bookstore.
The 1,188-page collection consists of two vibrant dark green hardcover volumes reminiscent of the high-quality books from Lovecraft's time. The cover and spines are foil-printed with insignia and inscriptions.
The HP Lovecraft Experience includes all of the author's works, making it a one-stop shop for his novels, novellas, short stories, and other works.
The two books are packaged in a sculptural display case featuring a new 3D depiction of Cthulhu. When we say 3D, we mean Cthulhu rises above the surface of the body, making the cosmic entity even more terrifying than it already is.
However, the huge display case contains more than just two books. The HP Lovecraft Historical Society has created a brand new Reader's Guide that examines 10 of Lovecraft's stories. The guide was written by Sean Branney and Andrew Lehman, co-founders of the Lovecraft Historical Society, and should be of interest to both new and experienced readers. The Reader's Guide is similar in appearance to the two main volumes, but is similar in size to a notebook. The format here follows the overall theme of collectibles.
All applications are associated with Miskatonic University, a fictional Massachusetts college that plays an important role in many of Lovecraft's stories, including all of his Cthulhu-related works.
Big Lovecraft fans will probably want to complete their Miskatonic University diploma, which is included here—but only after you've read the Undergraduate Course, presented in a small booklet. Other Miskatonic themed collectibles you'll find in the box include a bookmark, library card, patch, and sticker.
HP Lovecraft Experience is also available as Kindle e-reader for $20.. Obviously you'll miss out on the collectibles and premium presentation, but you'll still get both volumes and the Reader's Guide. Note: The “paperback edition” on the Amazon store page is not the true HP Lovecraft experience. It was published by someone who wanted to game the system. Don't buy this.
