Pokemon Go celebrates the arrival of autumn with the Harvest Festival, which runs from October 10 to 16. Fall-themed Pokemon like Miltank, Smolive, and Combi will be appearing more frequently over the next few days, but the most exciting thing is the appearance of two new Pokemon: Deeplin and its developed form, Hydraple.
Dipplin is another alternate evolution of Dipplin, originally introduced as part of the Teal Mask expansion pack for the game. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. However, as with other evolved forms of Applin, you will need to collect a new type of item – Syrup Apples – before you can get them, and they are a bit difficult to get. Here are some tips to help you get Dipplin and Hydrapple in Pokemon Go.
How to get Dipplin
The easiest way to get Dipplin is to evolve it from Applin, but you will need to collect quite a few items first. In particular, you need 200 Applin Candies and 20 Syrup Apples to start evolution.
Syrup Apples are a new item type introduced as part of the Harvest Festival event and can be found at PokeStops. Once you've collected the necessary items, you can evolve Applin into Dipplin straight from the Pokémon's details page.
How to get syrupy apples
Like Sweet Apples and Tart Apples (which are needed to turn Applin into Appletun or Flapple respectively), the main way to get Syrup Apples is through PokeStops. Place the Moss Bait module at one of these points and apples will periodically appear on the map while the module is active.
Once you see an apple, simply click on it to pick it up. However, not every apple can be picked; Sometimes clicking on one will trigger an encounter with a wild Pokemon, so you'll need patience and persistence as you try to collect them.
How to turn Dipplin into Hydrapple
To get Hydrapple, you won't need syrupy apples anymore, but you will need to accumulate a lot of candy. It's worth it 400 Applin candies transform Dipplin into Hydrapple. In addition, you must Catch seven Dragon-type Pokémon while Dipplin becomes your buddy before you can trigger evolution, which further complicates the process.
Typically, collecting 400 candies takes quite a long time, but there are several ways to speed up the process. Since Aplin appears more often during the Harvest Festival, be sure to use the Pinap Berry before catching the Pokemon to increase the amount of candy you receive as a reward. You can also convert any rare candies you have into Applin candies, which will help you reach the required level 400 faster.
Can Deeplin and Hydrapple be shiny?
Since Shiny Dipplin hasn't been added to Pokemon Go yet, you can't get Shiny Dipplin or Hydrapple in the mobile game yet. There's no indication when Shiny Applin will debut in Pokemon Go, but new Shiny Pokemon are usually introduced during special events, so it'll likely appear as part of some future event.
The harvest festival runs until October 16th, but there are plenty of other events this month, including Pokemon Legends: ZA crossover and annual Halloween celebration. You can read more about everything that's happening in the next few weeks in our Pokemon Go October Events Guide.
