New Poll on All Three VA Statewide Races Confirms Democrats’ Worst Fears Amid Jay Jones Scandal – RedState

Posted by Jay Jones scandalOne of the biggest questions people had — besides whether he would drop out of the race — was whether it would affect not only the race for attorney general, but also the gubernatorial and lieutenant governor races.

Fresh opinion polls released Saturday show that to be the case. Before we get to that, though, let's take a quick recap of another poll that was a strong indicator that the scandal was damaging Jones.

As RedState previously reported, there were early signs that it hurt Jones and helped GOP Attorney General Jason Miyares. Jones' campaign released internal polling results on Oct. 8, five days after the texts were released, that showed him leading by just one point, a statistical tie. As we've noted, internal polls are notorious for often showing their candidate in a stronger position than they actually are, meaning Jones was actually likely trailing by this point in the race, similar to McAuliffe's 2021 implosion.

Trafalgar freed new numbers On Saturday, it confirmed that Miyares had risen and was now indeed ahead of Jones in the poll taken from the 8th to the 10th:

Another positive development was the noticeable movement in the governor and lieutenant governor races, with both races tightening from the previous Trafalgar polls, which was taken before the text messaging scandal broke, and before the debate between Lt. Gov. Wince Earl-Sears (R) and Abigail Spanberger (R), in which the former congresswoman didn't good night everyone:

How Earl-Sears and Miyares did it markedthese races moved from issues to a question of character and who was morally best qualified to hold these positions, to represent the people of the Commonwealth.

While a strong argument could be made that Virginia Democrats were unfit to serve in the state before news of Jones' texts broke, the way they responded afterward only further underscored that point.

Jay Jones not only believes that he is above the law (read more about this). Here), but he also believes it's okay to fantasize about killing your political opponents and their children, and (presumably) killing police officers. Abigail Spanberger not only refuses to distance herself from Jones, she can't even bothered show any emotion or answer questions about how she would feel if her own children were victims of the harmful policies she supports, like boys in girls' locker rooms.

Democratic candidates in Virginia are counting on the Democratic franchise to help them navigate the turbulence of this race and lead them to victory. But the state is only halfway through the early voting period, giving Virginia voters plenty of time before Election Day to make their voices heard and do what they did in 2021: send Democrats packing.

Let's go!
