San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will not play in the team's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Purdy is dropped out with a toe injury and Pearsall was sidelined with a knee injury.

Backup cornerback Mac Jones, who is listed as questionable on the injury report, is expected to start for the 49ers. Jones injured his oblique muscle in his final game in last week's overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams and was limited in practice all week but should be ready to play, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Pardee, 25, initially injured his toe in the season opener against Seattle Seahawks. He missed the next two games and returned to action in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but aggravated the injury and missed last week's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Purdy, who signed a five-year, $265 million extension this offseason, will miss his sixth game with injury in San Francisco's last 13 contests dating back to last season.

While the 49ers are certainly missing Purdy, they haven't missed a beat with Jones as he is 3-0 as a starter.

The 27-year-old has completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 905 yards with six touchdowns and one interception in three games.

Jones is one of two quarterbacks, along with Matthew Stafford, in 2021 with Rams — has ever won his first three starts with the franchise while throwing for at least 900 yards and six touchdowns.

However, for the second week in a row, Jones won't have Pearsall to throw to. Jauan Jennings, another of Jones' top targets, is listed as questionable with ankle and rib injuries that kept him out of last week's game.
