“Most Americans are advised to switch to healthier fat sources, but not to increase their fat intake. There are exceptions where people may need a higher-fat diet, but this depends on health conditions rather than general recommendations for the population,” Stang said. “If you look at the nutritional value of these drinks, this is in no way a recommendation for a healthy drink.”
As a general rule, 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil per day is sufficient.
“Olive oil is an important part of a healthy diet,” Molzen said. “One of the only downsides to eating olive oil every day may be the added calories. However, a teaspoon of olive oil shouldn't make much of a difference.”
