Salem Radio Network host Scott Jennings recalled Thursday that Democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James campaigned on a promise to target President Donald Trump while debating her mortgage fraud conviction.
Federal grand jury accused James was charged Thursday with two counts of mortgage fraud related to a home in Norfolk, Virginia. Jennings told CNN NewsNight that James claims that she was being targeted for political reasons sounded like lip service, citing her record. “Look, I mean, Letitia James is the absolute worst example of the argument for selective prosecution. Her entire political career has been based on the idea of selectively prosecuting one person, Donald Trump,” Jennings said.

“Regardless of whether you think the merits of the case are strong or weak, or how you think it's going to play out, come out tonight and cry and whine and fuss about selective prosecution, when it comes to Letitia James, who ran an entire campaign saying she was going to prosecute Trump, the cases she brought, it was only because of Trump, I don't think the American people will have too much sympathy for that. empathy,” Jennings continued. “But she'll have to go to court, she can make her case and we'll see what happens.”
James sued Trump in September 2022, alleging that he inflated the value of his real estate assets to obtain loans. This happened after she swore to investigate Trump during her first campaign for attorney general in 2018, during which she called him an “illegitimate president.”
