The Rubik's Cube has been reinvented with more games and screens, and for a lot more money.
What was long considered a simple toy but a challenging puzzle requiring nothing more than a fair amount of twisting, turning and patience has been rebooted in the 21st century. Naturally, this requires some technology.
Unlike the original Rubik's Cube, which has six faces, each containing a 3×3 grid, the WOWCube Rubik's Cube is available for pre-order today, as noted Edgehas six faces with 2×2 grids.
Instead of a solid color sticker, each of the toy's 24 squares is a 240×240 IPS display. The cube itself is made up of eight “cabin modules,” as Cubios, the company that created the toy, calls them. Each module includes three of these IPS screens and a custom SoC. Like Cubios support page explains:
Our patented magnetic connectors allow the modules to maintain perfect electrical contact and seamless data transfer between them no matter how the cube rotates. Each of the 24 displays can be set to a solid color for a simpler, but still fun, Rubik's puzzle. Plus, the screens can be twisted and rotated to play dozens of different games, including Block Buster, Space InvadersAnd Jewel hunter.

The toy also includes a gyroscope, a 6-axis accelerometer and eight speakers. Cubios claims the built-in battery can last up to seven hours before needing to be recharged.
To add games or other apps to WOWCube, you need to download the WOWCube Connect app for iOS or Android, pair the toy with your phone via Bluetooth, and then use the mobile app to download games to WOWCube.
Currently, the WOWCube online application store lists 47 games; Some require money to download, and some are not yet available. WOWCube uses its own operating system, called CubiOS, and Cubios (the company) offers free DevKit.
