Fearwoods Has Officially Launched Its Steam Page

Step into the cursed forest in Firwood

The Steam page for Fearwoods, the dark co-op survival horror game, is now live. Developed by the three-person independent studio of the same name, Fearwoods takes players into a cursed forest where light and silence are the only defense against what lurks in the darkness. This is the studio's debut project, which is now available for wishlisting on Steam.

Created using Unreal Engine 5, Fearwoods promises realistic lighting, an unsettling atmosphere, and a living forest that changes with every step. Players find themselves in a nightmare where sound can give away their location and light can either save them or draw a creature closer. The developers describe it as a game about trust, survival and the delicate line between fear and empathy. “Firwoods is born from our passion for horror,” – the team explained. “This is a story about a demon and how thin the line between fear and compassion can be. We want players to decide for themselves – will they run or try to understand the monster?”

Designed for up to three players to play cooperatively, the game emphasizes teamwork and restraint. Each player has a light source that acts as both a weapon and a guide, but lighting comes with risks. The darkness hides players but heightens the monster's senses, forcing them to make difficult choices between safety and progress. As players delve deeper, they discover fragments of Avelina's diary, broken GPS devices, and mysterious traces of a demon, erasing the truth behind the horror.

There will be a playable demo coming soon, followed by early access to improve the game based on community feedback. The full version of Fearwoods is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2026, with console versions for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, as well as support for macOS and Linux, in development.
