Square Enix has revealed a little more about what's new in Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake, and I have to say that typing multiple times is getting quite tedious. I forgive Square because it really seems like there's a lot that's new for longtime Dragon Quest fans like me.
In a Twitter thread, Square talks about some of the additions. “Many scenarios have been added related to the entire Erdrick trilogy!” reads one tweet with a few screenshots supposedly showing some of these new storylines. Square also mentions that he had to seek help from Rubiss, the creator goddess first introduced in Dragon Quest 2.
“Encounters with people not represented in the original title and new events have been added, further deepening the story of Dragon Quest 1,” Square added in another tweet. “Solve various mysteries as you listen to the stories of those you meet on your adventure.”
Attached are obvious images of some of the new characters, and y'all, I'm a pretty big Dragon Quest fan, but Doorlock Warlock? I'm not sure about this.

Finally, Square is also teasing new dungeons and “formidable” enemies and encourages players to “explore every corner of the fields and dungeons in search of unseen worlds.”
This all sounds like neat stuff and I'm looking forward to learning more about the new characters and plot, but what I'm really looking forward to is finding out what The “really big surprise” Square teased last month.
I guess we'll find out when the remake pack releases on October 30th for Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
