However, if you don't need the latest technology, you can save much more by purchasing the latest technology. WH-1000XM5 in Black, marked down to $250 ($150 off) at Amazon. That's one of the lowest prices we've ever seen on the old model, and a great price for our favorite pair of noise-canceling headphones until the new XM6 model arrives in May.
Despite being several years old, the Sony XM5 still has a lot to offer, such as superior noise cancellation, detailed audio, and improved voice call quality thanks to its eight microphones. They are also comfortable to wear for long periods of time as the ear pads are wider and provide adequate cushioning. And since the XM5s are mostly made of plastic (with a little metal here and there), they're relatively light at 250 grams.
However, if you travel a lot, the XM5's design may be considered an upgrade from the old WH-1000XM4 and the new XM6. This is because the headphones do not fold. Instead, only the earcups rotate to lay the headphones flat, so they aren't as easy to pack away when they're in the case. However, if you plan to primarily use the XM5 at home, this is more or less a non-issue, but it's worth keeping in mind.
Sony still expanding XM5 with new featuressuch as audio sharing and conversational assistant with Google's Gemini Live artificial intelligence. So not only are you getting great noise-canceling headphones for $149 off, but you're also getting new features that improve the experience compared to when they were first released. It's a win-win.
